A Little About Me!!

Well lets start with the basics... My name is Reid, and I am a 23 year old Senior at the College of Charleston. I am in my final semester of earning a degree in Communication Studies. (If anybody is contemplating on what they field they should choose for a college degree, communication is the way yo go!)

I'm not one of those old school types that say, "oh kids these days don't know how to "verbalize" anymore,"but we really don't anymore. Text, phone calls, email, IM, messages, tweets, etc. all have distanced us from the primary needs of obtaining a job, or a promotion for that matter, in the real world.

Sure, keeping yourself up-to-date with all the social media phenomenon's is a must, but being able to speak, present positive body language, read body language, and effectively communicate in general is going to get you much further.

But back to me right? I love love love love the game of golf. I never say this, but I don't know any of you so here it goes, I am kinda good. Not like pro status or anything but I carry close to a scratch handicap. The only thing that super frustrates me is that I know plenty of crappy golfer that have multiple hole-in-one's, and I still have not gotten my first.

Other than school, work(at a golf course), and golf I really have nothing else going on in my life. Other than most of my time is spent with my girlfriend/the love of my life.

As much as it pains me to say this, when it comes to golf that is the one aspect of my life that does not contain one thing that is Nike. I know I know, not the best move for somebody that is infatuated with Nike, but their equipment just does not fit my game... yet. I am open to their new equipment, but $8.00 an hour is not going to cover buying all new golf clubs.

I did just order some of their 2011 golf shoe line, but we will see how they work out. I am one of those weird guys that does not like to play in golf shoes. Sneakers and T-shirts really help scream scratch golfer trust me. I call it the sleeper effect, makes the bets nice and easy!

They Found The First Tennis Shoe

Many have wondered for a long time when the first tennis shoe came about. Well carbon dating has finally placed this new discovery back to prehistoric man, aka the "wild man." Roughly 250,000 years ago the Homo Sapiens came into creation. It only took about a year before they found things like fire and the wheel, but shoes were the longest of this invention lineage. 245,000 years ago the first pair of shoes were created, and lo and behold they were a gorgeous pair of Nike's.

While only one of the two was ever found, it is clear that Nike will always dominate. It is such an easy decision even a caveman could do it!

Another first for Nike!! Just come out and say what you want to say. No reason to beat around the bush on this one, "Nike is for women too", "Sex sells, who knew?", "Politically Correct, Who is Anymore?"

Clearly the feministic approach is one you either embrace, or that embraces you. Go big or go home is sort of the motto here. While is is rather bold I would have to say at least it is not on a store front mannequin with cleaning supplies helping to sell their merchandise. (aka Forever 21 haha idiots)

Go for it little man!!

The First But Not The Last... T-Shirt Collection (Nike 5 Rings Black Mamba)

I will only put shirts on here that I actually own or wear. This shirt is something we have come to expect form Nike. Sleek, quick, game changing designs. In a way it is essentially Kobe Bryant in cotton form.

People seem to have some negative connotations when it comes to the T-Shirt category. Some say that they are fun, but represent the younger years of your life. While I have every intention of getting one of those stereotypical suit and tie kinds of jobs post college, I will always have a rather extensive T-Shirt collection. (All of them will be from Nike, but that is neither here nor there)

Since when did we sacrifice comfort and style for itchy and scratchy? If you really think about it, business professional is just to create a sense of consistency. Why is payday your favorite day? Other than getting paid, most companies have "pay day dress down day."

Find something more comfortable, that will get you this many compliments!

Grab yours off ebay, or google shop "nike 5 rings mamba"

Nike New Balls! 2011

Nike has some stiff competition this season. We all know there is only so much a company can do with metal shaving, size, distance control, removable weights, blah blah blah.

Well the guys over at Titleist and Taylor Made have decided that 2011 is going to be the year for aesthetics in golf. Nike was quick to follow this trend and has come out with some amazing looking equipment.

Everybody, besides Taylor Made, is going with the all black finish. Including face. I am a huge fan of this decision. The old school polished look only stays polished for so long and then starts to show marks in places that you do not want marks to show up.

The most exciting news from the Nike camp is that they are going to be releasing a new ball to replace the Nike Tour issue.
#1). This is great news because the introductory price is going to be around $29.99, (have fun trying to find used ProV's for that price) Can you say cornering a market?!?

Next I will be interested to see the responses of the Nike Team, and how the PR team over at Nike decides to utilize their new products being used on tour.

The beginning of the year is so much fun with all the new golf toys out there, and we get to see what Tiger has in store for us this season next weekend in San Diego.

Torrey Pines!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tiger Vision

Talk about #1. Nike didn't stop there they went out and picked up some other great athletes as well as having the best ever on board. They have the old school talent from the "always up there in a major"- Stewart Cink, to the young new talent of the "little strong man" Anthony Kim. Any new golfer that makes it big in this sport would be stupid not to sign with Nike. Oh that's right you don't get to ask a company to sign you, they will come and find you if you are good enough. (one can only dream so much that one day a Nike rep would discover some golfing secret from within my swing and I would make it big, but... nah, will not happen!)

We Choose our Own Path

To name the game... why are we so easy to pass the blame.

Tiger Woods has created far more good than we seem to give him credit for. The common argument that I still see today is that he should have conducted himself in a more professional manner.

Well to that I say, "the medium is the message." Mass media is something that we the people have created. What we read, watch, and choose is what creates the "madness."

Tiger did choose to do some things that I many would consider unfavorable, but should it have been so over played?

No... What he did is done and should remain just that.

Rather than dwell on the past I feel like we should look at what he has done for the sport. I mean lets be honest Phil is an amazing golfer, but he only became huge because of the Tiger rivalry. Can you honestly say that Anthony Kim and Stewart Cink can keep Nike afloat?

The man that recreated golf for my generation, and rejuvenated it for the baby boomers was and always will be Tiger Woods.

Buy some clubs, Nike or not, and pick up the game. The game has changed from just that of gentlemen to a game of people.

I would always suggest that if you choose not to play Nike clubs, you will not find a better looking pair of golf shoes than nearly their entire line of golfing foot ware.

Try and find a better player, I dare you. Find somebody that can do what he does, perform like he performs, wins like he wins.

My Favorites

In order to understand how extensive my NikeStyle really is, you will have to see what I am talking about. I will constantly show you my favorites and even help you find the best deals on where to get it.

For some of my "NikeThings" you will not be able to easily obtain them. Not that I am more special or anything, but some of the freshness in my closet comes from overseas. You see, Nike does a good job at keeping European fads in Europe, and American fads in America. Sad  I know, but if you really want it almost everything can be obtained.

I underline almost because even with my persistence in searching for one pair of EU Nike Twilight Runner shoes, I can not find them anywhere. The fact that they are a dead stock (no longer in production) means that every day that passes equals a decrease in the chance that I will find a pair.

Here are some more of the Twilight collection that in my opinion should never become a dead stock.

Light weight, runner meets style, casual, comfortable, affordable, need I say more? Again I like to dare people to do the impossible. So, with that said, I dare you to find something else you can run 10+ miles in and then wear out to a casual social event. Weather you lace them up tight or keep everything loose and clean, you will always be impressed with this shoe.
